Real Taste Maldivian flavours
If you love sampling foods from other countries, then the Maldivian cuisine will be a treat for you. The local inhabitants have perfected the art of cooking fish and using whatever their island produces to create sensational dishes that are sure to blow your taste buds! It’s absolutely amazing that they can create gourmet masterpieces by using simple ingredients that mostly consist of coconut, fish (mostly tuna) and starchy items such as rice and bread fruit. The curries of Maldives are out of this world! If you do have the opportunity to try ‘local’ food, here are some Maldivian specialties worth sampling.
Garudhiya: a fish broth served with rice, lime, chili and onions.
Mas huni: shredded smoked fish with grated coconuts and onions. This is considered the most popular breakfast food in the country.
